What is therapy? The answer to that reveals itself in the relationship that evolves between a client and their therapist over time.    The beauty of the therapeutic space is that it can be built to support the unique needs of each client.   Most concerns that bring people to therapy are intertwined with the way they relate to their world and, in turn, the way that their world relates to them. Neurodiverse, disabled, and queer people in particular may be accustomed to feeling pressure to shape themselves to the standards of others.

My approach is centered around providing an empathic place, free of judgment where clients are invited to recognize and then experiment with taking off the masks they wear for the outside world and helping them to explore, connect with, and accept their authentic selves.

Therapeutic work with children and teens is often strengthened  with support from and the perspective of their parents, guardians, and significant loved ones . I work to combine care takers’ expertise of their child with my knowledge of youth and neurodiversity-affirming practices.

My passion is for helping people from pre-teens across the lifespan engage in self-discovery.  From children working to identify and express their emotions, to teenagers who are in the process of finding out who they are, to young and older adults navigating their way through their current place in life.

I specialize in working with queer, neurodiverse, and disabled individuals, and their loved ones as well as providing support around anxiety, depression, and trauma. My therapeutic approach draws from elements of relational therapy, narrative therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and mindfulness.

Before joining Starobin Counseling, I earned my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore (UMB), specializing in Behavioral Health. While earning my Master's degree, I interned with Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, gaining experience in working with military service members and their loved ones.

I provide therapy for children, adolescents, young adults, and adults as well as parent-focused therapy. To request a free, brief consultation, click “Request an Appointment”.
